Fishing enthusiasts from across the southeast will invade Madeira Beach on March 12th and 14th for the 9th Annual Great American Grunt Hunt. Hosted by Madeira Beach Marina, the annual event is the start of the spring fishing season on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

The three-day event starts off with a mandatory Captain’s Meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 12th at the Madeira Beach Marina, 503 150th Ave. Pre-event registration for just $30 is available until March 10th and can be done online, by phone at 727-399-2631 or in person at the marina. An optional Hogfish division is also available for an additional $25. The Captain’s Meeting is open to the public with T-shirt sales, a raffle with great prizes, a 50-50 progressive pot raffle, a full bar, food for purchase, and a grunt fishing seminar with Capt. Dave Zalewski the “Grunt Master.”

On Saturday, March 14th at 4 p.m., don’t miss the weigh-in and fish fry! For just $10 you get a heaping portion of freshly cleaned fish with fries and coleslaw prepared by Snappers Sea Grill. The Grunt Hunt is an easy, inexpensive and fun event that anyone from kids to grandparents can
participate in and win.
