BEACHES ARE OPEN….

BEACHES ARE OPEN….

Madeira Beach Is Open!
Madeira Beach – Madeira Beach, the sand, City Hall, and most of the business community reopened this morning after six long weeks of isolation following a Safer at Home order issued by Pinellas County on April 3rd. The directive was designed to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus). Beaches reopened at 7 a.m., City Hall reopened at 8 a.m. and most businesses were allowed to reopen at their discretion.

Social distancing recommendations, keeping at least 6-feet apart and no gathering in groups larger than 10 people, remain in place throughout the community. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputies are stationed at beach access points and patrolling the beaches monitoring for compliance with social distancing guidelines.

The Madeira Beach retail business community in John’s Pass Village is welcoming local residents back by offering a 10% discount on all purchases. Proof of residency is required. The discount is also being honored at various Madeira Beach businesses outside of John’s Pass Village including at the Snack Shack located at Archibald Memorial BeachPark.

Staffing at City Hall is back to full strength, however, to protect citizens and staff strict social distancing guidelines are in place. Signage directing visitors to various services are located in the main lobby. All visitors and staff are required to have their temperature taken when entering City Hall. Staff is required to wear masks when entering any public areas, including when they leave the building.

“We’ve made great progress in this battle against Coronavirus, but the fight is not over,” said City Manager Bob Daniels. “On the beaches, in businesses, and City Hall we must remain vigilant in our efforts to slow the spread of this virus. Social distancing, wearing masks, consistent hand washing, and limiting your chance of exposure have proven to be effective as long as we don’t let our guard down.”
